The Decatur Police Department has strengthened its community safety efforts with the addition of a mobile Reconview surveillance tower. The new unit, capable of extending up to 25 feet, provides elevated visibility and real-time video coverage for events and high-traffic areas across the city.
Acquired through a three-year lease-purchase agreement, the tower enhances situational awareness for officers and serves as a visible deterrent to criminal activity. It has been deployed at major community gatherings, including National Night Out, Wise County Reunion, and other public events.
Equipped with four high-definition cameras and an air-conditioned surveillance pod, the tower can be easily towed by a standard patrol vehicle and operated by both officers and trained volunteers. This flexibility allows Decatur PD to rapidly respond to safety needs while maintaining a strong, visible security presence.
